About The Position

UCI Health is a large academic health system in California, part of the University of California, Irvine. It includes multiple hospitals and a network of ambulatory care centers. UCI Health is recognized for its comprehensive cancer center, Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma centers, and a regional burn center. It serves a large population across several counties through patient care, research, and medical education.

Requirements

Required to float to all locations of UCI Health as needed
Minimum of six months recent nursing experience working in an acute-care perioperative environment
If applicable, internal UCI candidate with 2+ years of UC service and possession of ADN with current enrollment in an accredited BSN program, with anticipated completion within 2 years
Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and equipment, and practice of infection control techniques, body mechanics and age related acuity levels
All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to scrub and circulate in most surgical specialties
Registered Nurse
Basic Life Support
Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

Demonstrated experience working in a Level I Trauma Center
Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
BSN and CNOR

Responsibilities

Design, coordinate, and deliver patient care for patients undergoing operative procedures using the nursing process.
May act as scrub or circulating nurse in various procedures.
Act as a role model to nursing students and new nurses.
Function as a Pt. Care Coordinator as requested.
Float to all locations of UCI Health as needed.
