About The Position

We are seeking a CLINICAL NURSE II at Duke Cardiology of Raleigh, located in Raleigh, NC to serve as a triage nurse and as an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.

Requirements

  • Work requires graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
  • Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.
  • BLS required.
  • Must be present on site for 8 hour shifts during standard business hours.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to push/pull 250 lbs.
  • Must be able to carry 25 lbs.
  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina.
  • BLS required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire date

Nice To Haves

  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the BSN program within seven years of their start date.
  • Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within seven years of their start date.
  • Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.
  • Cardiology experience preferred
  • Experience in Triage preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage nurse line for telephone triage with patients, document encounter, follow protocols established by clinic leadership and inform provider as indicated.
  • Monitor and address all triage related in basket tasks including Mychart patient advice, cardiac clearance forms and collaborate with other internal and external patient’s care team members.
  • Evaluate/Assess/Educate patient prior to procedures.
  • Alert MD for necessary modifications prior to Cardiac ultrasound procedures.
  • Start IV’s prior to IV Lasix Therapy procedures – calculate dose per physician order and monitor patient.
  • Handle prescription refills according to protocols.
  • Managing and performing PT/INR’s and providing Warfarin education.
  • Maintains department logs, educational materials and reports as required for accreditation and JCAHO (medications, equipment, crash cart).
  • Perform intake with patients to include vital signs, visit information and other clinical information as indicated based on patients assessment and clinic staffing needs.
  • Clinical resource for all Unlicensed Assistive Personnel.
  • Participates in performance improvement projects and/or acts as a liaison in various Clinic related projects.
  • Assist in training new staff for cross-coverage & educational purposes.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
