About The Position

Mater is seeking experienced and passionate Clinical Nurses to join the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team at Mater Hospital Springfield on a permanent full-time or part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within a growing healthcare environment, supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care within a contemporary ICU setting. As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide advanced clinical expertise, coordinate patient care, and support the ongoing development of nursing staff while contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture. These roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Minimum three years’ recent experience within Intensive Care or Critical Care Nursing
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and the ability to coordinate care within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and supportive approach
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous improvement, and patient-centred care
  • A genuine alignment with Mater’s values of compassion, dignity, integrity, and excellence

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification in Critical Care Nursing, or working towards completion, will be highly regarded

Responsibilities

  • Providing advanced clinical nursing care and coordinating patient management within a high-acuity environment
  • Acting as a clinical leader and role model, supporting excellence in patient care and professional practice
  • Supporting and mentoring nursing staff, graduates, and less experienced team members
  • Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes and continuity of care
  • Responding effectively to clinical deterioration and supporting complex patient care planning
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice, and service development activities
  • Supporting operational leadership within the unit as delegated by the Nurse Unit Manager
