About The Position

The Clinical Nurse Educator is a registered nurse who possesses competent clinical experience in the acute care setting. This role operates independently with limited oversight and is aligned with the Nursing Professional Development (NPD) scope and standards of practice. Responsibilities include acting as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, partner for practice transitions, and advocate for NPD specialty.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • A valid, current, unrestricted Professional Nursing License to practice nursing in any state of the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
  • Must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association.
  • A minimum of three years of acute care nursing practice (e.g., ICU, PCU, ER, or PACU/post-op recovery).
  • At least one year of experience in clinical education and staff professional development within the past two years.
  • One year of verifiable experience providing staff orientation, involvement in educational program presentations, or on-the-job training of clinical staff.

Nice To Haves

  • ANCC Nursing Professional Development (NPD) specialty certification is required within one year of hire if not already certified.

Responsibilities

  • Assess practice gaps and identify learning needs to facilitate positive learning environments.
  • Evaluate educational outcomes to ensure high-quality clinical practices and optimal patient care outcomes.
  • Oversee staff onboarding and orientation processes.
  • Manage competency evaluations and department-specific educational training.
  • Ensure compliance with American Heart Association (AHA) life safety standards.
  • Implement evidence-based practice and research initiatives.
  • Support staff role development and mentorship opportunities.
  • Collaborate with health programs for student placements and other educational support tasks.
  • Participate in various committees such as unit practice councils, risk management, quality improvement, ethics, and infection prevention.
