About The Position

The Clinical Nurse C-Perianesthesia demonstrates advanced competency in procedural and perianesthesia nursing for stable, unstable, and fragile patients. Utilizes skilled discretion and independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, provide and document direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. Exhibits refined interpersonal skills that portray professionalism and maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care. Performs the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) independently and in accordance with LLUMC's established Professional Practice Model (Duffy's Quality Caring Theory) to achieve proficient individualized physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellness and provide compassionate bereavement support as appropriate. Functions in a skills mix environment and effectively supervises and delegates tasks to a team of licensed and unlicensed staff in accordance with level of competency. Applies advanced theoretical concepts to clinical practice and exhibits self-motivation to continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in procedural and perianesthesia nursing and patient population served. Inspires and adopts the transformation of evidence into bed-side practice to optimize patient outcomes. Functions within the expectations of an accomplished professional nurse and meets nursing excellence standards to maintain Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Represents nursing as an empowered profession and readily embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements. Provides a positive influence to facilitate change and optimize patient satisfaction and outcomes. Engages in opportunities to directly and indirectly influence decision-making for point-of-care clinical practice by supporting and participating in professional governance councils, committees, task forces and staff meetings. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. May be required to participate in on-call rotation based on department business needs. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required for external hires (exceptions may be granted for current enrollment in a nursing bridge program or if employed in an LLUH entity with an Associate or Diploma Degree at time of application).
  • Minimum of two years' experience in nursing required.
  • For 34152/UH: Radiology Procedural Care, minimum one year of experience must be in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
  • Advanced knowledge in procedural and perianesthesia nursing.
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation required.
  • Professional behavior at all times.
  • Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
  • Able to speak, read and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred).
  • Able to use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program).

  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required for 33106/UH: Outpatient Surgery Center Perianesthesia.
