Clinical Nurse B-ED

Loma Linda University Health•Murrieta, CA

About The Position

The Clinical Nurse B works in the Emergency Department at Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta, a designated ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) receiving center. With minimal supervision, the nurse performs the nursing process—assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation—in a fast-paced environment serving a culturally diverse patient population with varied illnesses, diseases, and injuries. The nurse rapidly assesses and stabilizes patients with life-threatening conditions and uses sound independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, provide, and document age-specific, developmentally appropriate, patient-centered care in accordance with the organization’s Professional Practice Model, Duffy’s Quality Caring Theory. The role requires managing multiple cases simultaneously, working efficiently without compromising care, implementing standing orders, and responding calmly to unexpected situations and changing priorities. Patients arrive by land or air ambulance, during mass-casualty incidents, and as walk-ins. The nurse collaborates with physicians across service lines, assists with procedures according to orientation and competency, and understands the contributions of multidisciplinary team members and relevant emergency-care agencies and regulations. The Clinical Nurse B applies theoretical knowledge to emergency nursing practice, develops clinical skills, and contributes to nursing excellence, innovation, and improved patient experiences and outcomes. The position also involves direct supervision and delegation to licensed and unlicensed staff in a skills-mix environment, while fostering caring and cooperation among a diverse workforce and patient population. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
