The Clinical Nurse B-Inpatient uses discretion and independent judgment to provide, coordinate, and document direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The nurse performs the nursing process—assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation—in accordance with LLUMC-Murrieta's Professional Practice Model (Duffy's Quality Caring Theory). The role embraces new knowledge and improvements in practice, applies theoretical concepts to clinical care, and continually expands clinical skills with a focus on the specialty and patient population served. The nurse promotes professionalism, customer service, safe patient care, and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. In a skills-mix environment, the nurse directly supervises and delegates tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff and meets qualifications, licensure, certifications, and competencies specified in the department's Plan for Providing Care. The nurse may participate in an on-call rotation based on department needs and may be asked to serve as Shift Coordinator after completing the required orientation. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Loma Linda University Health is a faith- and values-based Christian institution; candidates must understand and embrace its mission, purpose, and identity.
