The Clinical Nurse B-Inpatient provides, coordinates, and documents direct and indirect, age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The nurse uses the nursing process—assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation—in accordance with LLUMC-Murrieta’s Professional Practice Model (Duffy’s Quality Caring Theory). The role applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice, embraces innovations and improvements, and continually develops knowledge and clinical skills focused on the specialty and patient population served. The nurse contributes to professional, courteous interactions and safe patient care in a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. In a skills-mix environment, the nurse directly supervises and delegates tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff and meets the qualifications, licensure, certifications, and competencies specified in the unit- or department-specific Plan for Providing Care. On-call participation may be required according to department business needs. After completing Shift Coordinator orientation, the nurse may be asked to serve in that role. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
