About The Position

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a Clinical Midwife to join their Pregnancy Assessment Centre (PAC) team. This is a part-time (0.95 FTE) maximum term contract role, based at Mater Mothers Hospital Springfield, which opened in early 2026. This state-of-the-art facility is Mater’s newest public hospital, designed to meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region with 174 public beds, ICU, maternity, emergency, and surgical services. As a Level 4 maternity service, it will care for approximately 1,700 women and families annually, focusing on low to moderate risk pregnancies, with established referral pathways to Mater Mothers’ Hospital South Brisbane for higher-level care.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience.
  • Current Midwifery registration and nursing registration with AHPRA.
  • Considerable post-graduate midwifery experience in a maternity setting and preferably also in gynaecology nursing.
  • Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of nursing/midwifery practice.
  • Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to the continuous improvement of health care and midwifery practice, and to continuing professional development of self and others.
  • Ability to work in a team environment including the larger multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to the Mater values.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably also in gynaecology nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all aspects of Nursing care with particular consideration to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each patient/client in a safe, effective and patient-focused manner.
  • Provides and supports the delivery of high-quality patient care, where advanced clinical skills and knowledge underpin care coordination, collaboration and communication within the Nursing and interdisciplinary team, for excellence in patient outcomes.
  • Provides clinical midwifery leadership and management on a day-to-day basis delegated by the NUM.
  • Delivers evidence-based care to women ranging from the care of normal, low risk women through to complex obstetric, medical and gynaecology care requiring an extensive multidisciplinary approach.
