About The Position

Academic Alliance in Dermatology is hiring a Medical Assistant for our Sarasota clinic. This position supports both medical and cosmetic dermatology services and works closely with the provider throughout the day to keep clinic flow running smoothly. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be involved in patient care, procedures, and clinical coordination. Candidates with experience in any medical setting are encouraged to apply. Dermatology experience is a plus, but not required.

Requirements

  • Experience working as a Medical Assistant, CNA, PCT, or similar clinical role
  • Comfortable in a patient-facing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized throughout the day
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Experience using an EMR system
  • Ability to assist with injections or minor procedures
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism with patients
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous hands-on clinical experience (1-2 years preferred) in a Medical Assistant (CMA), CNA, or similar patient care role

Nice To Haves

  • Dermatology experience
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or relevant healthcare training
  • Pre-med or pre-PA background
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant program, or a bachelor’s degree in a pre-med or pre-PA track, is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vitals, and document medical history using EMA (EMR system)
  • Assist the provider during procedures such as biopsies, excisions, and other in-office treatments
  • Prepare exam rooms and procedure trays based on daily schedules and provider preference
  • Apply numbing agents and support patients through procedures
  • Label and process specimens for lab and pathology, ensuring accuracy and proper routing
  • Help maintain clinic flow by keeping patients moving through their visits efficiently
  • Scribe and assist with documentation during patient visits as needed
  • Handle patient communication including calls, messages, and follow-ups
  • Monitor inventory, restock supplies, and remove expired materials
  • Clean and sterilize instruments in accordance with infection control protocols
  • Follow up with patients regarding results and next steps per provider direction
