Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) required
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Progressive leadership and management experience in healthcare, with demonstrated success leading clinical teams and operations.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and sound judgment, with a commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care and quality improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act, relevant legislation, professional standards, and healthcare accreditation requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, mentor, and empower staff while fostering collaboration, accountability, and employee engagement.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively manage complex situations and stakeholder relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and healthcare technologies, along with a demonstrated commitment to organizational values, professional excellence, and continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field
  • CPMHN(C) certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care, ensuring compliance with professional, legislative, organizational, and accreditation standards.
  • Manage clinical operations, including complex admissions, transfers, discharges, patient flow, bed management, and responses to rapidly changing patient care needs.
  • Collaborate with clinical, medical, and interdisciplinary leaders to develop and implement best practices, enhance service delivery, and strengthen patient outcomes and experiences.
  • Monitor clinical performance, quality, and safety indicators; lead quality improvement initiatives; and oversee the management of patient safety events, incidents, complaints, and emergency situations.
  • Promote effective care coordination, communication, and partnerships among staff, physicians, patients, families, community organizations, and external providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, attendance management, and staff development while ensuring appropriate staffing levels within budget.
  • Support professional practice excellence by monitoring staff competency, overseeing licensure and credentialing requirements, facilitating incident reviews, and fostering evidence-based practice and continuous learning.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and psychologically safe work environment by supporting employee engagement, change management, conflict resolution, student placements, and effective team communication.
