About The Position

The Clinical Manager is responsible for the development, on-going maintenance, and employee training required to ensure the consistent application of clinic medical services and laboratory regulations, standards, and best practices associated with the delivery of safe patient care. The Clinical Manager will also be responsible for managing the receipt and delivery of prescription medications, immunizations, and nurse visit services. The Clinical Manager will assist the Care Practitioners in the delivery of services as needed. The Clinical Manager supervises the clinical support staff, phlebotomists, preceptors and/or clinic volunteers as necessary. The Clinical Support Manager participates in the annual Primary Care Medical Assistant staff performance appraisals, carries out needed disciplinary actions, and makes recommendations about employment, promotion, and termination. Fundamental to the success of this position is the establishment of a systemic Quality Improvement (QI) Program approach to the delivery of all clinical services provided to Lunera Health patients. This position is also responsible for the documentation, training, and supervision of clinical support personnel in the safe delivery of patient care. The Clinical Manager collaborates with management, clinical and administrative staff to ensure safe, quality, effective, and productive workflows. The Clinical Manager delivers care to the patient in a way that acknowledges the patient’s native language, health literacy, and cultural competencies. This position requires compliance with the Center’s Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct and applicable policies and procedures. Such compliance will be considered as part of a regular performance appraisal. Failure to comply with the Center’s standards, including the failure to report any conduct or event that potentially violates legal or compliance requirements, will be met by the enforcement of disciplinary action, up to and including possible termination.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Education
  • Current RN License
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Extensive Clinical Experience in All Programmatic Areas
  • Minimum 5 Years Clinical Supervisory Experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all clinical support staff functions to ensure conformance with established standards and procedural requirements.
  • Monitors patient flow and, in the case of patient overflow, assists clinical support staff in preparation of examination rooms, preparation of patients for exam, and taking of vital signs of patients. Performs other routine procedures, i.e., weighing and measuring, as necessary and assists Providers with other procedures, as requested.
  • Manages the receipt and delivery of prescription medications, immunizations, and nurse visit services. Nurse visit services include medications and injections to patients as directed by the providers; immunizations; venipuncture; referrals to other providers and community health resources; and health instruction to patients.
  • Assists in preparation of clinical support staff schedules and assures that adequate coverage is provided to providers and clinic sessions.
  • Implementation and maintenance of Federal and state regulations, e.g., OSHA, CLIA, DOL and recognized guidelines and best practices associated with the services offered at the Center and in the laboratory.
  • Assures that all patient electronic records (eCW) are accurate and closed in a timely fashion. The Clinical Manager is expected to have a mastery over the electronic system and train clinic staff in its proper use.
  • Is a member of the QI Committee and attends QI Meetings.
  • Plays a key role in QI-related activities, including necessary paperwork, equipment testing, and participation in staff meetings and audits.
  • In collaboration with Center leadership, establishes and maintains clinical support staff training and development program to ensure on-going educational opportunities.
  • Full participation on the Senior Leadership Group and works regularly with the management team on organizational policy, plans, and procedures and its design, implementation, and evaluation. Assists the Senior Leadership Group on matters relating to nursing practice and participates in development of policies and protocols for patient care.
