About The Position

The Canadian Mental Health Association – Toronto Branch is seeking a Clinical Lead for the Toronto Community Crisis Support Services (TCCS) Program. This program offers 24/7 support to individuals in northwest Toronto experiencing mental health and/or addiction crises. It is part of a City of Toronto police reform initiative to assess non-police-led crisis responses. The TCCS Program aims to reduce harm for individuals with mental health and addictions challenges, particularly those from Black, Indigenous, racialized, LGBTQ2+ and other marginalized communities. The program operates in partnership with a Collaborative of several community organizations. CMHA is a leading community mental health organization in Canada, with CMHA Toronto providing services to over 10,000 clients annually through 31 programs at 13 locations. CMHA Toronto is dedicated to delivering high-quality mental health and addictions services, advocating for system improvements, and providing education and support.

Requirements

Minimum Undergraduate Degree in Social Work/Social or Health Sciences or equivalent.
Five (5) years of experience working in community mental health and addictions.
Strong knowledge of crisis intervention and recovery principles.
Two (2) years of clinical leadership experience.
Demonstrated effectiveness in supporting teams to achieve desired clinical outcomes.
Understanding and knowledge of working with persons with mental health and/or addictions issues.
Understanding of the intersectionality of systemic barriers and social determinants of health.
Strong knowledge and experience of systemic and structural factors that impact Black, Indigenous, racialized and 2SLGBTQ2+ communities, rooted in lived experience.
Proven track record in working with, collaborating with, and providing crisis supports to equity-deserving communities.
Knowledge and/or experience of community services in the northwest Toronto area.
Solid understanding of empathic strain, secondary traumatic stress, and burnout, and demonstrated skills in supporting teams to mitigate these.
Ability to contribute to a positive learning culture and facilitate evidence-based quality care with optimal outcomes.
Ability to coach, build, and work effectively with a diverse and interdisciplinary team.
Skills in human resource management, including recruitment and retention of staff.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and consensus-building skills.
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and assign priorities.
Strong interpersonal, communication, coaching, and team-building skills.
Strong commitment to safety, best practice, and innovation in service delivery.
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Valid Ontario Driver’s License, access to a vehicle, and insurance coverage.
Ability to work evening and weekend shifts as required.
Must adhere to COVID-19 policy and provide proof of vaccination.

Nice To Haves

Membership, in good standing, in a regulatory college is preferred.
Fluency in one or more additional languages.
Education or experience in nursing or related clinical fields.

Responsibilities

Provide clinical service delivery, program planning and evaluation, quality and human resource management.
Offer strong, on-site clinical leadership to an interdisciplinary team (nurses, mental health case managers, counsellors, peer staff) delivering mobile support and follow-up to individuals in crisis.
Support ongoing program operations to ensure high-quality service delivery to clients and communities.
Promote client-centered, trauma- and violence-informed care with an emphasis on harm reduction, anti-discrimination, anti-oppression, and culturally safe care.
Employ an open and collaborative approach with staff, clients, families, partners, and community stakeholders.
Provide guidance and supervision to team members and administrative support, including data collection and reporting.
Participate in hiring, training, and performance management of program staff.
Proactively identify and implement quality improvement opportunities.
Support consultation to internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of client services.
Continuously ensure that services achieve excellence at both clinical and operational levels.
