Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
Current New York State license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
0–1 years of technical experience required.

Nice To Haves

Point-of-care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform assays of biological specimens according to established policies and procedures, using specified instruments, equipment, reagents, and techniques.
Review and report results; document actions taken and alert a supervisor to problems or unusual or critical results.
Maintain equipment in operating condition through routine preventive maintenance, including instrument start-up and shut-down procedures, and document these procedures.
Perform and document quality control procedures; follow the Standard Operating Procedure manual and laboratory policies when test systems do not meet acceptable performance levels.
Maintain a clean workbench and surrounding area and follow safety and infection control procedures.
Handle proficiency test samples for receipt and analysis in the same manner as patient specimens.
Perform special test procedures as directed.
Identify, correct, and report to management problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting.
Document corrective action when test systems deviate from laboratory performance specifications.
Troubleshoot equipment to correct malfunctions.
Perform related duties as required.
