About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join its Immunology team in Burlington, North Carolina. The role performs laboratory testing and related technical functions to support quality patient care. New graduates are welcome, and full training is provided. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts may be required depending on business needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Computer proficiency and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Nice To Haves

• Three months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification.
• New graduates are welcome; full training is provided.
• Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may satisfy education requirements in lieu of the listed degree requirements.

Responsibilities

• Determine whether specimens are acceptable for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as needed.
• Assist with specimen processing when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
