About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join its team at Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas. This casual/per-diem role has hours as needed, with varying start and end times. The position works in a high-volume, production-based environment and performs a vital component of clinical laboratory science, helping provide information that supports patient care.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in a chemical or biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology; applicable science credits from a non-traditional degree may satisfy the education requirement if they meet CLIA standards.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Proficiency with computers.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Nice To Haves

• ASCP or AMT certification.

Responsibilities

• Determine whether specimens are acceptable for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with specimen processing when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
