About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist – Blood Bank for an exciting Contract job in Jamaica, NY. This role involves performing clinical laboratory testing and analysis specifically within the Blood Bank department. The technologist will be responsible for a range of critical tasks including blood typing, crossmatching, antibody screening, and compatibility testing. They will also process and prepare blood products for transfusion, maintain strict adherence to quality control and assurance procedures, and ensure accurate record-keeping. Operating and troubleshooting laboratory instruments, maintaining safety and regulatory compliance, and collaborating with healthcare professionals are key aspects of this position. The role also includes participation in proficiency testing, continuous quality improvement, and ensuring proper specimen handling and storage.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree from an accredited Clinical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Science program.
  • Valid New York State Education Department (NYSED) Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (License Code 092).
  • Primary Source Verification of NYSED License.
  • Minimum 1 year of Clinical Laboratory Technologist experience in a Blood Bank setting.
  • Minimum 1 year of Blood Bank experience.
  • Strong understanding of transfusion medicine and blood bank procedures.
  • Experience performing blood typing, crossmatching, and transfusion-related testing.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a hospital laboratory environment.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Experience working in an acute care or hospital laboratory setting.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards.

Responsibilities
