About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Lab Technologist – Blood Bank to support transfusion medicine services within a fast-paced acute care hospital laboratory. This role is responsible for performing blood bank testing, compatibility studies, quality control procedures, and supporting critical transfusion needs while maintaining the highest standards of laboratory accuracy and patient safety.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Medical Technology or related laboratory science field.
Active New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
Minimum 1 year of Blood Bank experience.
Strong knowledge of transfusion medicine principles and blood bank procedures.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.

Nice To Haves

Acute care hospital laboratory experience.
Experience with high-volume transfusion services.
Strong knowledge of blood product management and emergency release protocols.
Experience with laboratory information systems and electronic documentation.
ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform blood bank testing and transfusion medicine procedures.
Process and evaluate blood samples for compatibility and crossmatching.
Perform antibody screening, identification, and blood typing procedures.
Support emergency transfusion and trauma-related blood product requests.
Ensure compliance with laboratory quality assurance and quality control standards.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
Accurately document and report laboratory findings in laboratory information systems.
Follow all laboratory safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.
Collaborate with pathologists, physicians, nurses, and laboratory staff.
Maintain accurate inventory and handling of blood products.
