About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join its team at Ascension St Agnes in Baltimore, Maryland. This role works in a high-volume, production-based environment and performs a vital component of clinical laboratory science. The position involves determining specimen acceptability, carrying out routine and complex testing procedures, operating and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation, and reporting accurate results to support quality patient care. The schedule is Wednesday and Thursday, 11:15 p.m. to 7:15 a.m., and Friday and Saturday, 11:00 p.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in a chemical or biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology, or qualifying non-traditional education with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
Proficiency with computers.
High attention to detail and strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Nice To Haves

One year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience, or an MLS degree.
ASCP or AMT certification.

Responsibilities

Determine whether specimens are acceptable for testing according to established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
Assist with specimen processing when needed.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
