About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join their team at Ascension St. Vincent's Riverside in Jacksonville, FL. This role is responsible for determining specimen acceptability, performing routine and complex technical procedures, monitoring and troubleshooting instrumentation, making technical decisions, preparing and testing reagents, reporting test results, performing maintenance and quality control, replenishing supplies, assisting with specimen processing, and maintaining a safe work environment. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology, along with 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or an MLS degree and a FL Medical Technologist Supervisor license. In lieu of education requirements, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may be accepted. The ideal candidate will have understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures, proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office, strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, decision-making ability, and the ability to handle physical requirements including passing a color blindness test. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
  • FL Medical Technologist Supervisor license

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • 1 years or more of experience supervising or leading a team
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
