Clinical Laboratory Scientist
About The Position
Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at the Togus Va Medical Center in Augusta, Maine. This is a full-time position with standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. The role involves performing a broad range of laboratory procedures, including advanced and complex analyses. The scientist must be adept at recognizing and correcting deviations from expected results using scientific principles, and must be able to evaluate and solve problems related to biological specimen collection and processing. Additionally, the position requires maintaining, documenting, using, calibrating, and performing preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree
- Certification from a nationally recognized accrediting agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT etc.)
- Minimum of two (2) years of laboratory experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform a broad range of laboratory procedures, including advanced and complex laboratory procedures.
- Recognize deviation from expected results and use scientific principles to analyze and correct problems.
- Evaluate and solve problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis accounting for physiologic processes and requirements.
- Maintain and document the optimal functioning of laboratory equipment.
- Use, calibrate, and identify malfunctions; repair and perform preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
