The CLS works under minimal supervision and is responsible for complex molecular diagnostic testing laboratory procedures using all types of qualified specimens submitted for testing. This role requires an exceptional understanding of molecular diagnostic techniques, histology techniques, working with databases, microarray analysis, quality systems, lab automation, and statistical analysis. The position involves performing diagnostic laboratory activities, composing and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), consulting on daily workflows and troubleshooting, and adhering to all safety guidelines and protocols. The CLS is also responsible for assigned projects such as instrument comparisons, calibrations, staff schedules, process improvement, lab training, assay validation, and maintaining a filling system for patient data. Additionally, the role requires initiating career development, adhering to various federal and state laws and regulations, and maintaining patient confidentiality.
