This role involves preparing specimens and performing waived to high‑complexity clinical laboratory testing in full compliance with SOPs and all major regulatory standards, including FACT, AABB, ACHI, CAP, FDA, and Joint Commission requirements. The position supports education by assisting in training students and staff, while also demonstrating continued growth in test system analysis, troubleshooting, and regulatory proficiency. It requires a strong understanding of section operations, contributions to staff development and future testing needs, and serving as a technical resource for laboratory personnel and leadership. All work is performed under the authorization of the Laboratory Director in accordance with CLIA 1988 (CFR 493.1445(a)).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 5 years as a certified or licensed clinical laboratory scientist
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong technical proficiency in specimen processing, laboratory testing, equipment operation, and accurate result reporting.
  • Perform and document quality control, quality assurance, and performance improvement activities, including troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Prepare reagents and materials, ensure proper documentation, follow safety protocols, and uphold high standards of integrity and customer service.
  • Draft, revise, validate, and ensure compliance of laboratory policies, procedures, SOPs, and accreditation requirements.
  • Lead or support validation of new instruments, reagents, and tests; analyze data; and participate in inspections, proficiency testing, and regulatory readiness.
  • Oversee workflow, scheduling, staff competency, and quality performance indicators while identifying improvement opportunities and supporting departmental operations.
