About The Position

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II, also referred to as a Medical Technologist (Med Tech), performs laboratory testing that contributes to diagnosis and patient care. The role requires technical expertise, analytical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration within a healthcare team. The position is part-time, 20 hours each week, with varied hours and day or evening shifts at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. The CLS II performs a wide variety of laboratory procedures using independent judgment, manual methods, and automated methods across Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines as introduced into the laboratory.

Requirements

A minimum of two years of hospital laboratory work experience is required.
A bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological health science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1423).
A current and valid state license is required if the laboratory is located in a state where one is required.

Nice To Haves

ASCP certification or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, tissues, and other bodily fluids to aid diagnosis.
Interpret laboratory test results, identify abnormalities, and ensure results are accurate and reliable to support patient-care decisions.
Implement and monitor quality-control procedures; calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment as needed.
Maintain accurate, detailed records of laboratory tests and results, and enter data into laboratory information systems.
Ensure laboratory operations comply with hospital policies, governmental regulations, and accreditation requirements.
Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment, using manual and automated methods across laboratory disciplines.
