About The Position

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II (CLS II), also referred to as a Medical Technologist (Med Tech), performs laboratory testing that contributes to diagnosing diseases and conditions and supports patient care and treatment. The role calls for technical expertise, analytical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration within a healthcare team. This is a per diem position, with work performed as needed, and varied shifts at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Requirements

At least two years of hospital laboratory work experience.
A bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological health science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1423).
Current and valid state license if required in the state where the laboratory is located.

Nice To Haves

ASCP certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, tissues, and other bodily fluids.
Interpret test results, identify abnormalities, and ensure results are accurate and reliable to support clinical decisions.
Implement and monitor quality-control procedures and calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
Keep detailed records of laboratory tests and results and enter data into laboratory information systems.
Ensure laboratory operations comply with hospital policies, governmental regulations, and accreditation requirements.
Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures using independent judgment and manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines introduced into the laboratory.
