About The Position

This role involves performing tests in all areas of the Clinical Laboratory, including Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and limited Microbiology. The scientist will calibrate and maintain all Clinical Laboratory instruments, troubleshoot instruments and methods, and perform necessary record keeping, quality control surveillance, and problem resolution. Responsibilities also include specimen processing and clerical functions. The position requires the ability to perform efficiently under pressure and conduct selected tests in a STAT time frame. Specific duties in Blood Bank include resolving antibody problems, ABO discrepancies, preparing components, selecting appropriate blood for transfusion, and identifying and working up transfusion reactions.

Requirements

Current California Laboratory Technologist License required
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
One year internship in an approved Clinical Laboratory Scientist Program leading to licensure by the State of California
Possess a current license issued by the state in which the laboratory is located, if such licensing is required.
Meet CLIA requirements for high complexity testing.

Nice To Haves

MT-Medical Technologist preferred
Recent experience in a laboratory including Hematology, Blood Bank, and Chemistry
Knowledge of and recent experience with automated analyzers including maintenance and troubleshooting
Knowledge and understanding of quality control and necessary record keeping

Responsibilities
