Clinical Laboratory Science Student
About The Position
The Clinical Laboratory Science Student is under the general direction of the Section Supervisor/Manager and Leadership staff, and performs a variety of laboratory tests, under direct supervision, to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Responsibilities
- Performs general operational duties including workflow.
- Participates in continuing education workshops and seminars.
- Assists with the stock levels, ensures stock rotation, and monitors expiration date of stock on hand and data collection.
- Performs laboratory procedures and calculates, transcribes and records test results.
- Prepares specimens for analysis and provides results to Pathology.
- Correlates results with diagnosis in order to determine validity or results.
- Performs Quality Assurance and Quality Control in assigned laboratory areas.
- Communicates unusual findings to on site supervisor and/or Pathology and caregivers.
- Manages specimens.
- Performs maintenance procedures on laboratory instruments and/or equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
