Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 2 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Familiarity with an electronic data management system is a plus (i.e. MasterControl)
  • General knowledge of laboratory regulations (CAP/CLIA/ISO) and licensing requirements
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Basic understanding of audit related requirements and procedures
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance best practices and procedures
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 1 year or more of data analysis experience
  • 1 year or more of quality experience in a clinical laboratory

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support the laboratory Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with CLIA, CAP, ISO 15189, and other regulatory standards
  • Monitor compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with internal and external audits, inspections, and accreditation activities
  • Track and trend nonconformances, deviations, and corrective actions (CAPA)
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret laboratory quality data (e.g., QC, proficiency testing, turnaround time, specimen rejection rates)
  • Identify trends, shifts, or outliers using statistical tools
  • Develop dashboards and reports to communicate quality performance metrics
  • Perform root cause analysis and support data-driven decision making
  • Partner with laboratory leadership and technical staff to implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Evaluate workflow efficiency and recommend process optimization strategies
  • Support Lean, Six Sigma, or similar initiatives where applicable
  • Apply knowledge of pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes
  • Collaborate with technical teams to investigate quality issues and instrument or assay-related trends
  • Assist with validation/verification studies, including stability, precision, and method comparisons
  • Maintain quality documentation including SOPs, policies, and records
  • Ensure proper documentation for audits and inspections
  • Provide training or guidance on quality processes and data interpretation
  • Keep up with all required proficiency testing and examinations
  • Coordinate and track external and internal proficiency testing
  • Participate in monthly Quality Meeting and compose minutes
