About The Position
The Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA) role at Texas Health Plano is a PRN position for the day shift. This role is crucial in supporting the laboratory department by performing daily reviews of results, specimen collection, patient identification, labeling, and handling specimens according to laboratory procedures and safety guidelines. The CLA will also perform procedures in other areas of the laboratory as needed. Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency
- Six months’ experience as a phlebotomist or completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy
Nice To Haves
- PBT(ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician upon hire preferred
Responsibilities
- Performs daily review of results from the department
- Follows laboratory procedure for specimen collection, patient identification and labeling as appropriate for the age of the patient
- Follows laboratory procedures for handling, and processing in a manner which is appropriate and follows safety guidelines
- Follows laboratory procedures for handling unacceptable specimens
- Follows established laboratory test procedures
- Performs procedures in other areas of the Laboratory as required by hospital entity
