About The Position

Sovah Health - Danville, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to support laboratory operations and patient care. The role involves using the Laboratory Information System, handling requisitions and physician orders, assisting with specimen collection, and communicating with patients and callers. The assistant follows company safety regulations and helps patients understand procedures and feel comfortable during the collection process. The position is full-time with varied shifts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of college or an associate degree preferred.
• One year of lab-related experience in a clinical, hospital, or lab setting preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate the telephone and communicate clearly while maintaining good phone etiquette.
• Operate a Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Adhere to company safety regulations.
• Perform phlebotomy duties as required, including venipuncture and capillary techniques using standard equipment.
• Ensure requisitions include patient demographics and accurate required billing information.
• Transcribe physician orders.
• Facilitate unobserved urine specimen collection, including Chain of Custody Drug Screens.
• Interact directly with patients to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, allay fears, and elicit cooperation.
