About The Position

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant (Lab Processor) in the Laboratory Department at Texas Health Rockwall is a full-time position responsible for specimen collection, patient identification, and labeling according to age-specific procedures. This role involves performing tests in various laboratory areas, processing specimens, and participating in the training of new staff and students. The position also requires maintaining documentation for quality control and equipment maintenance in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Texas Health Rockwall is a 105-bed facility serving Rockwall, Kaufman, Hunt, and surrounding counties, recognized as an ANCC Pathway to Excellence® facility, and is part of the larger Texas Health system.

Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency is required
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Strong critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills.
Proficient in basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

6 Months experience as a phlebotomist or completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy is preferred
PBT(ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician Upon Hire is preferred
Venipuncture skills with all age groups.

Responsibilities

Follows laboratory procedure for specimen collection, patient identification and labeling as appropriate for the age of the patient.
Follows established laboratory test procedures.
Performs procedures in other areas of the Laboratory as required by hospital entity.
Processes specimens.
Participates in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees, and observers.
Maintains commitment to profession by attending continuing education sessions.
Quality control and equipment maintenance documentation is in compliance with all departmental quality control procedures and all regulatory guidelines.
