This full-time Clinical Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist position is responsible for collecting and processing patient blood and non-blood specimens accurately and timely. The role involves patient registration, providing phone support, maintaining competency with laboratory information systems, and training new team members. The assistant will also perform routine laboratory tests, maintain documentation, manage supplies, and practice sterile techniques. This position handles blood and body fluids, deals with infectious patients, and performs minor laboratory procedures under supervision, including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and immunology. Phlebotomy is performed through venous and capillary puncture, adhering to age-specific considerations and strict antisepsis principles. Urine specimens are also collected and processed for routine tests. The role requires reporting in-house test results and abnormal findings to clinical staff, and complying with all safety, cleanliness, and infection control policies, including OSHA regulations and the appropriate use of PPE.
