Clinical Lab Scientist - Hempath Morph Lab
About The Position
Mayo Clinic is seeking a Clinical Lab Scientist for their Hempath Morph Lab. This is a non-exempt position where individuals hired will perform analyses on biological specimens, such as blood and urine, to aid healthcare providers in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The role also participates in operational support activities necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities. Individuals hired into this position are required to complete 2 years in this role before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic. This position is not eligible for sponsorship, and Mayo Clinic does not sponsor or transfer visas for this position. Additionally, Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate Degree in one of the following: Medical Technology (MT), Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS).
- Or Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or human biological science plus Certificate in Medical laboratory Science (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), Medical Technology (MT), as recognized by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
- Or Bachelor’s degree plus (MLS) ASCP Certification.
- An HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.
- Applicants needing visa sponsorship must possess CGFNS Visa Screen certification upon application.
- Moderate to advanced computer skills.
- Good written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects.
- Basic Life Support certification may be required within six months of hire, depending on location of hire.
- Limited X-Ray Machine Operator (LXMO) certification may be required depending on location of hire.

Responsibilities
- Receive direction from Lab Manager, Regional Director and the Laboratory Medical Director.
- Work cooperatively with Administration, Physicians, Allied Health Staff, patients and residents.
- Performs analyses on biological specimens, e.g. blood and urine, to aid health care providers in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Participates in the operational support activities necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities.
