About The Position

This is a non-exempt position where the individual performs analyses on biological specimens, such as blood and urine, to assist healthcare providers in diagnosing and treating patients. The role also participates in operational support activities necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities. Individuals hired into this position are required to complete 2 years in this role before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic. This position is not eligible for sponsorship, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology (MT), Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS).
  • Or Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or human biological science plus Certificate in Medical laboratory Science (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), Medical Technology (MT), as recognized by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
  • Or Bachelor’s degree plus (MLS) ASCP Certification.
  • An HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills.
  • Good written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects.

  • For international/foreign trained applicants, a DETAILED equivalency evaluation from an organization listed as a member of NACES or AICE, showing US equivalent degree, is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification may be required within six months of hire, depending on location of hire.
  • Limited X-Ray Machine Operator (LXMO) certification may be required depending on location of hire.
