About The Position

Canyon Vista Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Clinical Lab Scientist. The center is located in the high desert of southeastern Arizona, serving residents in Sierra Vista, Ft. Huachuca, Cochise County, and surrounding communities. Founded in 1963, the hospital moved to a new 177,000 square foot facility in 2015. Canyon Vista Medical Center is a 100-bed hospital licensed by Medicare, the State of Arizona, and accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. It has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for the Advanced Primary Stroke Center Certification. Its Advanced Wound Care Center has received multiple national awards from Healogics®, including Center of Distinction, Robert A. Warriner III, M.D. Clinical Excellence Award, President’s Circle Award, and the 2024 Center of the Year Award. The medical center also received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group. The role involves performing diagnostic testing on patient samples to assist physicians in diagnosis and monitoring of various disease states, analyzing test results, performing automated tests, running tests for reporting, performing quality assurance, and collecting biological specimens.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Lab Services
  • ASCP certification or eligibility required

Responsibilities

  • Diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease state.
  • Analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical illness, and reports/documents results per organization standards.
  • Performs automated tests using computerized instruments and automated equipment.
  • Runs tests and analyzes the results to be reported to the patient, physician, or registered nurse.
  • Performs quality assurance work to ensure accuracy of equipment.
  • Collects biological specimens.
