About The Position

Performs routine and complex clinical laboratory tests according to established policies and procedures to produce data used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Assesses test results for accuracy and performs scheduled preventive maintenance, calibration, and minor troubleshooting on laboratory instruments. May collect blood specimens and train personnel and students. The role requires independent judgment, professional education, and certification.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science.
• Successful completion of the ASCP or AMT Board of Certification CLS exam within the first year of employment; applicants with an alternative bachelor’s degree must complete the ASCP or AMT CLS certification exam before employment.
• Maintain current certification according to guidelines established by the appropriate certifying agency.
• Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and communicate with patients and other health care professionals.
• Professionalism and the ability to perform skillfully in stressful situations.
• Sufficient academic, technical, and clinical skills and knowledge to evaluate, troubleshoot, research, and resolve day-to-day problems or special projects assigned by laboratory management.
