About The Position

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist III, Section Lead reports directly to the Supervisor, Laboratory Director and the Medical Director and is assigned to perform accurate and timely laboratory testing in the assigned sections of the laboratory. This position also may monitor technicians and other non-independent practitioners. Must be able to use independent judgment and knowledge. Lead CLS for the assigned section under administrative direction is responsible for maintenance of policies, procedures, and quality control practices. Provides management and accreditation support. Provides for a self-directed team approach to a customer-driven service initiative.

Requirements

Graduation from an approved school of medical technology.
State of California Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
Six years as a registered technologist in an acute care hospital.
Phlebotomy skills.
Basic medical terminology.
Typing, math, and computer skills.
Ability to work independently.
Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age groups: Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal.
Meets state and federal requirements for supervising the performance of high complexity laboratory testing as outlined in CLIA 88 and the State Title for Laboratories.

Nice To Haves

B.S. degree preferred.
Advanced certification in section assigned preferred.
ASCP or equivalent desired.
