About The Position

At NorthBay Health, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist II is a staff-level position reporting directly to the Supervisor, Laboratory Director, and the Medical Director. This role is assigned to perform, interpret, and report accurate and timely laboratory testing in assigned sections of the laboratory, adhering to standard operating procedures, policies, and state and federal laboratory laws. This position may also supervise technicians and other non-independent practitioners. The role requires the ability to use critical thinking skills and make independent judgments based on knowledge of laboratory medicine and disease processes.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved school of medical technology.
  • State of California Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
  • Meets state and federal requirements for supervising the performance of high complexity laboratory testing as outlined in CLIA 88 and the State Title for Laboratories.
  • Phlebotomy skills.
  • Basic medical terminology.
  • Typing skills.
  • Math skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Able to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. degree preferred.
  • ASCP or equivalent certification desired.
  • Three years as a registered technologist in an acute care hospital desired.

Responsibilities
