About The Position

Under close supervision, performs a variety of laboratory tests in multiple areas within the department. Incumbents receive close supervision and considerable guidance in developing laboratory skills and performing required tests and procedures. Performs related duties as required. Employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level, and not all listed duties are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

Requirements

• Sufficient education, training, and work experience to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.
• Valid license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Bioanalyst in the State of California.

Responsibilities

• Maintains records, including worksheets, logs, inventory lists, quality-control checklists, and other data as needed.
• Performs preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and performs quality-control tests and calibrations on instruments used in testing procedures.
• Performs required testing of specimens according to standardized procedures and laboratory policies.
• Prepares and maintains reagents, controls, and standards used in assigned test procedures.
• Receives, logs, and processes specimens as required by each laboratory area.
• Supervises and oversees work performed by laboratory assistants and clinical laboratory trainees.
• Performs related duties as required.
