This position is accountable for performing clinical laboratory testing, following all applicable policies and procedures. The Clinical Lab Scientist I role involves performing moderate to highly complex clinical tests, preparing reagents, testing new reagents, determining specimen acceptability, calculating results, and ensuring accurate reporting of laboratory results. The role also includes responsibility for equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, quality control, and proficiency testing. Effective communication, participation in meetings, and adherence to safety and infection control guidelines are essential. The position may also involve training unlicensed staff and pursuing continuing education for professional growth and California state licensure.
