This position is accountable for performing clinical laboratory testing, following all applicable policies and procedures. The Clinical Lab Scientist I role involves independently performing moderate to highly complex clinical tests, preparing reagents, testing new reagents, determining specimen acceptability, calculating results, and accurately entering and monitoring test results. The role also includes ensuring equipment is maintained and calibrated, performing quality control, initiating corrective actions, and maintaining a safe work environment. Effective communication, participation in meetings, and taking on additional projects are also key aspects of this position. The role requires adherence to safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, proper waste disposal, and maintaining confidentiality. Additionally, the position may involve supervising unlicensed staff, supporting training programs, and maintaining professional growth through continuing education to meet California state licensure requirements.
