About The Position
The Clinical Lab Associate 3 works in Vanderbilt Health’s DNA Molecular Genetics organization. The role independently triages and processes advanced specimens and works closely with laboratory staff, medical staff, and external customers, including providing advanced troubleshooting and resolving problems. It also packs and ships laboratory specimens to referring laboratories. The stated shift is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; laboratory experience is preferred. The position supports specimen intake and processing, pre-analytical testing workflows, test add-ons, and related clerical work. The role calls for advanced knowledge within a professional area, independent problem solving, and the ability to serve as a resource for colleagues with less experience. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and three years of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities
- Sort, triage, receive, send, process, and batch specimens.
- Accession specimens received with a requisition.
- Process samples before testing.
- Process test add-ons and resolve pre-analytical specimen or test issues.
- Provide general clerical support.
- Pack and ship laboratory specimens to referring laboratories.
- Work with laboratory staff, medical staff, and external customers to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
