About The Position

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant - PRN position at Texas Health Alliance is a vital role within the Laboratory Department. The assistant will work as a generalist, rotating through various departments. Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required
CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
6 Months experience as a phlebotomist or
Completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy preferred or
Hospital experience preferred
PBT(ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician Upon Hire Preferred

Responsibilities

Follows laboratory procedure for specimen collection, patient identification and labeling as appropriate for the age of the patient.
Follows laboratory procedures for handling, and processing in a manner which is appropriate and follows safety guidelines.
Follows laboratory procedures for handling unacceptable specimens.
Follows established laboratory test procedures.
Performs procedures in other areas of the Laboratory as required by hospital entity.
Reports and evaluates test results.
Facilitates workflow process.
Helps other hospitals and laboratory coworkers to provide timely patient care.
Processes specimens.
Demonstrates ability to perform specimen processing protocols.
Participates in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees, and observers.
Maintains commitment to profession by attending continuing education sessions. (ex. Web seminars, ASCP seminars, Tarleton and Lab sponsored seminars by industry).
Follows quality control guidelines.
Performs quality control and equipment maintenance.
Incorporates safety/infection control measures into work practices.
