About The Position
This position is for a Clinical Lab Assistant I - Phlebotomist Per Diem at EvergreenHealth, located in Kirkland, WA. The main responsibility entails handling all outpatient processing tasks and dispatching specimens. The role requires adept problem-solving abilities to enhance customer service efficiency and ensure client satisfaction. The assistant will regularly engage with various healthcare professionals, including laboratory and hospital staff, requiring a comprehensive knowledge base to maintain effective collaboration. This position will cover multiple outpatient phlebotomy clinic locations.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent or applicable coursework to be applied to obtain required WA State Medical Assistant – Phlebotomy (MA-P) - Certification.
- Certification from an approved phlebotomy-training program with successful completion of a required internship preferred, or relevant work experience.
- Medical terminology
- State of Washington Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist (MA-P) or equivalent.
- Have and maintain current Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
Nice To Haves
- 3 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory role
- Previous training and competence in dealing with unique needs in the range of customer service situations with clinicians and their office staff.
- Working knowledge of the various government regulations specifically Medicare and the Washington state medical Test Site regulations.
- Working knowledge of the College of American Pathologists (ASCP) and the Joint Commission (TJC) inspection criteria.
Responsibilities
- Processes all specimens in accordance with laboratory protocol including the proper handling, centrifugation, storage, packaging, and transport.
- Uses the laboratory information system and other reference laboratory’s web-based applications to independently solve complex issues in a sensitive, caring, and timely manner.
- Answer and navigate calls with accuracy, efficiency, and courtesy using the best customer service tactics and practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
