About The Position
This position is for a Clinical Lab Assistant I - Phlebotomist Per Diem at EvergreenHealth, covering outpatient phlebotomy clinics in Canyon Park, Redmond, Woodinville, Duvall, Kenmore, and Kirkland. The main responsibility entails handling all outpatient processing tasks and dispatching specimens. The role requires adept problem-solving abilities to enhance customer service efficiency and ensure client satisfaction. The assistant will regularly engage with various healthcare professionals, including laboratory and hospital staff, requiring a comprehensive knowledge base to maintain effective collaboration.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent or applicable coursework to be applied to obtain required WA State Medical Assistant – Phlebotomy (MA-P) - Certification.
- Certification from an approved phlebotomy-training program with successful completion of a required internship preferred, or relevant work experience.
- Medical terminology
- State of Washington Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist (MA-P) or equivalent.
- Have and maintain current Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
Nice To Haves
- 3 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory role
- Previous training and competence in dealing with unique needs in the range of customer service situations with clinicians and their office staff.
- Working knowledge of the various government regulations specifically Medicare and the Washington state medical Test Site regulations.
- Working knowledge of the College of American Pathologists (ASCP) and the Joint Commission (TJC) inspection criteria.
Responsibilities
- Processes all specimens in accordance with laboratory protocol including the proper handling, centrifugation, storage, packaging, and transport.
- Uses the laboratory information system and other reference laboratory’s web-based applications to independently solve complex issues in a sensitive, caring, and timely manner.
- Answer and navigate calls with accuracy, efficiency, and courtesy using the best customer service tactics and practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
