About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Clinical IS Analyst (Epic)-Associate position supports patient-facing Epic applications, with a focus on enhancing the experience across ambulatory and dental workflows. This San Antonio-based role partners closely with clinical teams, operational stakeholders, and the UT Health San Antonio Dental School to support system optimization, implementation, and end-user adoption. This position is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment—demonstrating the ability to adapt quickly, manage multiple priorities, and continuously learn new technologies. The analyst collaborates across Epic applications (including MyChart and patient experience tools) and provides tier-one support to ensure seamless functionality and a high-quality patient and end user experience. Responsibilities include assisting with build, testing, and implementation activities; supporting patient experience initiatives specific to dental and ambulatory care; and contributing to projects that improve access, communication, and care coordination. Under guidance, the analyst may support project coordination efforts for smaller initiatives, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met. The role also involves developing and maintaining documentation, adhering to internal standards and workflows, and engaging professionally with leadership, faculty, staff, and vendors. A strong emphasis is placed on teamwork, customer service, and delivering solutions that enhance patient engagement and satisfaction across both medical and dental settings. This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years of comparable experience may be substituted for a degree).

Nice To Haves

  • Epic certification/proficiency in any module preferred.
  • Epic certification must be maintained per Epic Corporation standards within 1.5 years of hire is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Based on clinical project requests, works with requestors and users to understand and document current workflow with an eye toward proposed future workflows that are optimized for any planned application changes.
  • Presents recommended system enhancement opportunities and creative technical solutions for clinic-related scenarios.
  • Using analytical evaluation skills, identifies, proposes, builds, and demonstrates prototypes of application configuration options for review and approval by project requestors.
  • Performs ongoing maintenance and configuration updates to Epic applications.
  • With supervision, creates test scripts, timelines, and plans for application and workflow changes.
  • Performs actual testing of clinical information system configuration and processes, including testing across applications and/or the testing of the application configuration of other analysts.
  • Coordinates and participates in requestor and user testing of application changes.
  • Provides tier-one support to end-users both remotely and in-person.
  • Monitors, investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves incoming tickets.
  • Serves as a liaison between users and vendors.
  • Coordinates system fixes and changes with software vendors.
  • Coordinates the deployment of application changes with the training team and operations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
