About The Position

We are currently looking for interns for the Spring 2027 Semester! With Horizon, you have the opportunity to gain practical experience in your field of study. Horizon offers opportunities in a variety of settings that include our outpatient clinics, residential facilities, and inpatient/detox facility. You will gain experience under the guidance of our clinicians and/or program directors.

Requirements

Current enrollment in a Master’s level program of Social Work, Mental Health or Substance Abuse Counseling, or another related Health and Human Services field is required.
Internship experience must be a requirement of your degree.
Must use a personal email for application.
Need constant and continuous access to the email used for application.

You will not be eligible if you have already completed your degree or if you are not enrolled in the programs listed above.
This internship is unpaid and for school credit hours only.

Responsibilities

Assisting the primary clinician in the provision of services to their number of patients during the course of treatment.
Organizing and supervising patient urine screens to ensure samples are collected accurately.
Performing medication counts to measure prescription adherence.
Communicating with collaterals regarding outstanding issues.
Assisting clinicians and staff in group therapy preparation, development, and co-facilitation.
Assisting in coordination of care.
Drafting case or progress notes and assisting with clinical assessments and treatment plans.
Observing Suboxone referrals and preparing updates to clinical management.
Assisting with status updates, court reports, and the submission of the Department of Social Services reports.
Observing transfer requests and psychiatric referrals.
Assisting in insurance authorizations.
Performing filing and other administrative duties.
