About The Position

Horizon is currently seeking interns for the Spring 2027 semester to gain practical experience in their field of study. Interns will have the opportunity to work in various settings, including outpatient clinics, residential facilities, and inpatient/detox facilities, under the guidance of experienced clinicians and program directors. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience and is a requirement for degree completion, offering school credit hours only.

Requirements

Current enrollment in a Master’s level program of Social Work, Mental Health or Substance Abuse Counseling, or another related Health and Human Services field.
Internship experience must be a requirement of your degree.
Must utilize a personal email for application and have constant and continuous access to it.
Willingness to travel to multiple locations for placement.
Provide full availability for scheduling.

Responsibilities

Assisting the primary clinician in the provision of services to their number of patients during the course of treatment.
Organizing and supervising patient urine screens to ensure samples are collected accurately.
Performing medication counts to measure prescription adherence.
Communicating with collaterals regarding outstanding issues.
Assisting clinicians and staff in group therapy preparation, development, and co-facilitation.
Assisting in coordination of care.
Drafting case or progress notes and assisting with clinical assessments and treatment plans.
Observing Suboxone referrals and preparing updates to clinical management.
Assisting with status updates, court reports, and the submission of the Department of Social Services reports.
Observing transfer requests and psychiatric referrals.
Assisting in insurance authorizations.
Performing filing and other administrative duties.
