About The Position

Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees. This position is a temporary casual hire position and offers no benefits, with hours not to exceed 2 hours per week. All positions require successful completion of a background check.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited professional psychologist internship.
  • Current, unrestricted Licensed Psychologist license in the State of Hawai’i.
  • At least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job (i.e., working with athletes, clinical supervision of graduate practicum students in clinical psychology).

Responsibilities

  • Planning learning opportunities.
  • Conducting clinical supervision and group discussions 1x a week for 1 hour (unless on a holiday break).
  • Communicating with students, faculty, and clinical site staff in a timely, respectful, and responsive manner.
  • Directly guide students overseeing patient care through weekly clinical supervision.
  • Teach practical skills in evidence-based treatment modalities, strengthen competencies in synthesizing clinical data into clinical formulation, develop critical thinking and problem-solving, and facilitate data-driven treatment planning.
  • Assess student performance and provide ongoing constructive feedback.
  • Foster a supportive, safe learning environment that encourages inquiry and professional growth.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical and professional standards set by the American Psychological Association and Hawai’i state licensing boards, and to best practice to ensure patient safety through appropriate risk assessment and management.
  • Knowledge of FERPA, HIPAA, and Title IX rights and compliance for students.
  • Other Duties As Assigned
