About The Position

The Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Illinois Chicago Retzky College of Pharmacy is seeking a Clinical Instructor/Clinical Pharmacist, Wood Street Pharmacy to join the Ambulatory Pharmacy Services unit. The practice site for this position is located in Wood Street Pharmacy. Our mission is to provide quality health services and promote disease prevention to all in the community of the UI Health System. Wood Street Pharmacy is a mail order and specialty pharmacy, servicing our patients Monday through Friday. Our pharmacy is looking for a full-time team player who possesses strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, and adapts to a changing work environment. The successful candidate must also possess excellent time management and organizational skills and be committed to providing excellent patient care. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with USP 797 and 800 compliance and standards in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred. The Retzky College of Pharmacy, with campuses in Chicago and Rockford, is the #1 college of pharmacy in the state of Illinois and #6 in total research grant funding, according to the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).

Requirements

  • Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a professional pharmacist in Illinois as of start date.
  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy PharmD program.
  • Candidate must possess knowledge and skills such that they qualify for a non-tenured clinical faculty position (at the rank of Clinical Instructor) with the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the UIC College of Pharmacy.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with USP 797 and 800 compliance and standards in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Three years of prior pharmacy experience.
  • Previous pharmacy management experience.
  • Working knowledge of the programs serviced in the pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Provision of didactic instruction and clinical experiential teaching/training in the Retzky College of Pharmacy’s Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
  • Precepting of PGY1 and PGY2 residents.
  • Working closely with pharmacy technicians, students, medical staff and patients in providing patient-centered clinical pharmacy services.
  • Accurate and efficient review and verification of medication orders.
  • Providing patient medication counseling.
  • Working with health care providers and patients to resolve any medication issues.
  • Ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Directing the activities performed by pharmacy technicians.
  • Serving as a resource for clinic-based staff for medication-related questions.
  • Assisting with all mail out activities.
